This past month, the team at True North General Contracting had the opportunity to work in Pikangikum First Nation, where we were brought in to help complete the community’s new fitness gym facility. Our scope included the installation of luxury vinyl plank (LVP) in high-traffic areas, carpet tiles in adjoining spaces, and rubber mat flooring in workout zones to ensure durability, safety, and performance. We also completed the interior painting, giving the space a clean and professional finish.
This facility will serve as an important resource for community wellness, offering a dedicated space for physical activity, training, and health programming — a place to build both physical and mental strength.
🐾 A New Friend Named Sabbath
While working on site, one of our crew members crossed paths with an unexpected visitor — a black Labrador retriever, clearly in need of some care and attention. Over the course of the project, the dog grew attached to the team, and the feeling was mutual. By the end of the trip, he had been adopted and made the journey home with his new owner.
Now named Sabbath, he’s settling into his new life — happy, healthy, and part of the extended True North family. This trip reminded us that sometimes, the most lasting impact of a job isn’t just what we build — it’s who we connect with along the way.
🛠️ Thank You to the Community of Pikangikum
We’re incredibly grateful to the community of Pikangikum for welcoming us and trusting us to help bring this fitness space to life with our general contracting services. It’s an honour to be part of projects that promote wellness, empowerment, and community strength in northern Ontario.
At True North, we don’t just build with materials — we build with purpose.
